![]() sometimes i wonder y i put so much effort into volunteering. sorry guys, a bit emo today.. it seems for a moment it could all be a wrong move, that all these effort might be a great waste of my time. anyways in retrospect, i could have done so much for myself otherwise; studying for good grades, emersing myself in computer games, going out for solo photoshoots, touching up my aquarium, or simply just slacking around enjoying the brief break i have from school. but then again, when i put myself in the shoe of the residents in MWH, the same dawning that befell me before hit me again. if i am one of the residents, if i am the one abandoned by society, if i am the one stuck alone in a home, if i am the one not knowing what life has left for me, i would very much love some company, any company. jonathan and i just had a meeting with the MWH social worker, Elizabeth. we just found out that one of the mission of the home is to slowly integrate the residents back into society. this was a complete paradigm shift, and put our efforts under a completely new light. we are pivotal in the Home's mission, it is through out interaction that shall slowly bring back in the resident the confidence to face society. we can make a difference. we are not about ourselves. we are about us. we are about caring for those around, and receiving their love, in the many other forms, in return. i have learnt and discovered so much about myself through interaction with the residents, lessons i would cherish, lessons i would not get anywhere else except here at MWH. so some may ask why i am so active in volunteering. the answer is simpler than i thought. its because i still can. and when i see the smile at the residents' faces, i know its all worth it.
