Hello!

We'll be having a session of Karaoke with the residents this coming Saturday! We'll mainly be interacting with the residents and encouraging them to sing along with the music played. :) And of course, we need to sing along ourselves to encourage them ;P

Here’s the schedule:
1400-1430 arrival of volunteers
1430-1600 interaction/song session
1600-1630 free and easy [residents take their medication during this time]
1630 feeding of residents [if needed]

Just a note: There will be another group of volunteers (the Boy’s Brigade) going down in the morning, so we do not want to do any activity that is too strenuous, like an outing or games. Speaking of outing…we are bringing them to botanical gardens on 19/8! Keep that day free ppl! :)

By the way, if any new volunteer is keen to join us this sat, do drop us a note at mwhvolunteers@gmail.com or leave a comment! I can arrange to meet you all at Harborfront MRT at 2pm :)

See you all then!

Hey all!

Thanks so much for all your time and effort in helping out during Charity Fiesta, be it during the outing for the residents on 29/7, or helping out at the booth on 30/7! We received $140 from the booth sales, and deducting some costs, it'll prob be $100 or so. Not too bad a job for a day's sales! *pat on the back* :)

Here are some pictures taken on that day! ;p

Handicraft-making on 29/7 (due to privacy issues I cant publish photos of the residents, so I'll just be showing pictures of our end-products!):

the ones with ribbons..

the ones with clay..

Booth sales on 30/7:

don't they look pretty?

Hello all!

NVAC's annual Charity Fiesta is happening this coming weekend at Jurong East MRT area! Woohoo! :)

In conjunction with that, we'll be bringing the residents to the CF venue in the morning for a free haircut by professional stylists and following them back to hold an in-house handicraft session in the afternoon.

THE OUTING
There will be 15 ambulant residents and 2 staff coming along for the outing, and we'll need at least 15 volunteers to help out. I am expecting quite a crowd at the CF venue, so it'll really be necessary to have at least one volunteer to one resident. I understand that some of us are involved in CF events (like myself) and will not be able to help out so that's where I need all of your help! Please do invite your friends to come along and help out, if possible! And seniors too..do come down and join us if you can make it.:)

If you can come down, please do confirm your attendance with Liqin or myself asap. ASAP please? :)

IN-HOUSE HANDICRAFT SESSION
Following the outing, we'll be back in mwh for a handicraft session with the residents. We'll be making some clips using pegs and clay and felt cloth--hoping to sell these items during the CF bazaar on sunday!

TIMELINE
1000-1030 arrival of volunteers
1030-1045 pairing of volunteers to residents
1045-1100 boarding of bus
1130/45 arrival at Jurong East, venue of Charity Fiesta
1300 departure from CF venue

1430-1500 teaching volunteers the making of the handicraft
1500-1630 handicraft making with the residents!
1700 end of session

Hope to see you there! :)

Cheerios,
Esther

Dear all,

Here is the promotional video of 2 major upcoming highlights featured in this year's Charity Fiesta held on the 28th - 30th of July 06 - COPA Fiesta & Are You Game?!

Many thanks go to the actors (Alex, Cuili, Soon Hui, Jia Yan and Pei Ling) featured on the video, as well as to Lin Yen and Guo Bin for creating the video in such a short time!

Enjoy :)

Dear all,

Doing some publicity for NVAC Charity Fiesta!

NVAC Charity Fiesta 2006
28th-30th (Fri-Sun) July
Jurong East MRT Area

PUBLIC TICKET SALES

WHEN: Sundays 16th July and 23rd July (11.30pm to 6.00pm).

WHERE: Meet 10.30pm @ Somerset MRT to collect the tin cans and coupons aka tix.

WHAT: Help to sell $2 coupons aka tickets which can be used to purchase items at the bazaar during Charity Fiesta itself.(So it's like paper money that can be used to buy F&B, Fashion accessories, Games, Beneficiary handicarafts, Massage y the visually impaired etc) For those who have no interest to come down for CF, they can treat the $2 as a donation.

WHY: We hope to raise $50K for the 24 beneficiaries (which is not much when divided among so many). This means we need to sell 25,000 tickets to meet our target! So we really do need alot of help. Every individual makes a difference. Do please try to get a friend to come along with you, so that you can move around as a pair.

HOW: Drop us an email at
charityfiesta@gmail.com! You are also encouraged to draw out a booklet or two (20 tickets per booklet) to sell to your friends and family!! :) Many hands = more help!

ON THE DAYS 28 29 30 JULY

We also need alot of helpes for the actual event. (Think a whole bustling mini-town next to Jurong MRT). Whether is is to sell tickets, man bazaar booths, assist in crowd control and security and especially as facilitators who will be following the teams for "Are You Game" the amazing race event on the 29th.

For more details, visit our funky (hehe) website @: http://cf.nvac.com.sg/

Hey everyone!

As planned earlier, we were scheduled to bring the residents out to the nearby coffeeshop this coming Saturday. But I just got to know that residents will be having their health screening this Sat, and the staff will be busy with bringing the residents to and fro for the checkups. Thus we will NOT be having the coffeeshop outing this Sat, and instead, just be having an informal interaction session k? It's free and easy timing, but most of us should be down at around 230pm :)

Btw if you are wondering why there are so many last minute changes to our activities this july..the home is currently involved in many activities, including a Racial Harmony day performance which most of the staff are involved in, outings that other outside groups have "booked" the residents early for, as well as a flag day on 22nd July. Just thot I'd let you guys know.

See you all this sat! :)

Hi all,

Some updates reg the upcoming weeks! :)

8/7--no activity, but encouraged to go down just for interaction!
15/7--coffeeshop outing
22/7--project visit to YCK MINDS
29/7--in-house session, followed by nite cycling
5/8--outing to botanical gardens

The month of July will be rather packed for the residents, as they are having outings (by people from other organizations), which is why we are having project visit to YCK MINDS on 22/7.

NITE CYCLING 29/7

AFter much procrastination, we have fixed a date for nite cycling..the route is from east coast park to changi village..pretty smooth terrain, but quite a long distance. A few of us have gone on the trail before..so dun worry abt getting lost! anyone has violent objections to the dates, pls voice it out! it's pretty flexible since there's no fixed cost involved :p (oh yes, btw cost of overnight bike rental is below $10)

CHALET 8-10/12 (FRI-SUN)

we have decided to push the chalet back to december, so hopefully you guys can mark down these dates! the chalets can only be booked 2 months in advance, so it's not been booked yet, but let's fix these dates first k? Those working..chop leave now! haha..

yup so far that's all abt it..oh yes! Charity Fiesta's coming up on 28-30. Will post up details of the event if i get any info ya? it's an NVAC event so do try to support k? it's at some open field in the west (jurong if i m not wrong)

Take care everyone! Flu bug going ard! :(
