It has already been more than half a year I'm in MWH. Well, I still remembered last time when Esther asked me about joining MWH. There was only me and winnie in the recruitment talk, hehe. Well I never regret of joining it..

At first, of course I'm for points to be frank..but slowly i think MWH has changed me. Several times when i'm not in a good mood, and still have to go MWH, I felt that argh, I might as well skip the session, but in the end, I went. Upon reaching MWH, of course i can't show my rather angry or sad face to the residents..so i did pretend to be happy and chat with them. after the session, I actually felt better..

Most probably I saw their face, the residents' i meant. Their life is far more disappointing than mine..and they still keep smiling when they saw me coming! Although they can't remember my name until now, although they always talk the same thing to me, although they complain the same thing to me everytime, I don't mind hearing them again and again. They need people to hear them.. at least..

Thanks for asking me to join last time, esther. you indeed make a difference in my life. And all the friends i met in MWH, all of you are very nice..

How true..very often we tend to take the things around us for granted..and forget how blessed we are. read on.

LOOK FOR THE BLESSINGS

As a minister was addressing a group of men, he took a large piece of paper and made a black spot in the center of it with a marking pen. Then he held up the paper before the group and asked them what they saw.

One person quickly replied, "I see a black mark."

"Right," the preacher replied, "what else do you see?"
Complete silence prevailed.

"Don't you see anything other than the black spot?" he asked.
A chorus of "NO" came from the audience.

"I'm surprised", the speaker commented. "You have overlooked the most important thing of all--the sheet of white paper."

In life, we are often distracted by our disappointments and trials. We forget the innumerable blessings we receive.

But, like the sheet of paper, the good things in life are sometimes overwhelmed by the adversities that monopolize our attention.

Rather than concentrating on the little trials of life, we should fix our attention on the blessings that are given to us.

Just for information's sake!

MWH is situated at 301 Henderson Road S108931.

Directions on getting there:
MWH is 2 bus stops away from Harborfront MRT (depending on which direction you are coming from). If you are coming from Pasir Panjang Rd/Telok Blangah, it is 2 bus stops BEFORE reaching HBF Centre. You'll see a shell station before the bus stop. In the opposite direction, you'll be passing by HBF first, and do stop 2 stops AFTER HBF.

Buses available are 10 30 93 97 100 131 143 145 166 188 408 963. The exact location can be found/viewed at Location of MWH, along with the nearby bus stops.

MWH is a short yellow colour building. Should be quite easy to spot if you keep a close enough lookout for it, and if you are coming from the Telok Blangah direction. If you are coming from HBF, then you will not see it.

If you happen to be new and reading this, and are interested in joining us even for just one session, please do not hesitate to drop us an email at mwhvolunteers@gmail.com. I can arrange to meet you at HBF :)

K that's all for this post :)

Dear all,

Haha..finally decided to start on a blog page after much much procrastination. Hoping that this can reach out to more people who are interested to volunteer together with us!

Just got back from the outing to esplande with 15 residents of MWH. So glad that everything turned out fine--weather was goooood and we all came back safe and sound! And did I mention that we came back on time too! haha..despite all the delays here and there. Yay..thanks everyone for the cooperation!

Haha..ok credit roll time! Seriously a lot of this will not have been possible without the help of many many people and I am just so thankful that all of you chipped in in one way or another--be it helping to book the bus, to reccee the place, to source for NeWater prior to the outing. And not to mention all that was done during the outing--drive the NUSSU van, carry the NeWater, umbrellas and taking photographs. And how could I forget those of you who kindly took time off one Wednesday afternoon to spend time with the residents. I am sure you made their day :)

To the new volunteers:
Peishan, Theng Poay, Jolene, Darren, Stanley, Crystal, How Yuan, Keat Foong, Pin Saewang, Yiwei, Wanling, Liling and Mariam (I hope I spelled your name correctly!),
I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Sorry if there was any confusion or long waiting time, or the little squeeze on the NUSSU van. Heh. Thank you for first taking the initiative to volunteer with us and we definitely look forward to seeing you all again :)

To the regular volunteers:
Thanks for just being around. I know I can count on you guys :)

To all who expresed interest but didn't manage to come down due to some reason or other:
Save this page under your Favourites!! Haha..As many of your have expresed interest in joining us in future activities, pls do visit this page for updates k? :)

To the staff at MWH:
Thanks Bernadette and staff, for coming along and helping us so much with the coordination of this outings. It would have not been possible without permission from you all in the first place :)

To Him:
for everything that made this possible :)

Did I miss out anyone? Deepest apologies if I do! Haha..getting late and mind's not thinking properly. Yes..one more day left of my midterm break. time to pia!

Jiayou everyone for the upcoming tests and projects!

See you all soon!
